TWSA! Snapshot Series – McCain To Syria : “Herrrrrrrre’s Johnny!!!”
Michael Matthew Bloomer, June 13, 2013
For McCain (and Lindsey Graham) it’s never enough . . . Why does McCain continue to occupy a pre-eminent place among America’s foreign policy experts? There are few among us more irresponsible about the lives and fortunes of others, his country’s – or other countries’ – men and women:
“But providing arms alone is not sufficient. That alone is not enough to change the military balance of power on
the ground against Assad. The president must rally an international coalition to take military actions to
degrade Assad’s ability to use air power and ballistic missiles and to move and resupply his forces around
the battlefield by air. This can be done, as we have said many times, using stand-off weapons such as cruise missiles.”
Senator John McCain
excerpt from McCain/Lindsey Graham statement
about President Obama’s decision to
arm Syrian opposition forces,
Senate floor, June 13, 2013
More muscular intervention than the Obama administration was necessary, he continued,
“Otherwise, you are going to see a regional conflict the consequences of which we will be paying for a long, long time.”
Otherwise what? As opposed to what, Senator?1 Iraq? Afghanistan?
