Man On Romney: “I’d love to be able to get one on one with Governor Romney . . .” Rick Santorum Shocks GOP Base

On ABC’s This Week Rick Santorum declared,

“I’d love to be able to get one on one with Governor Romney . . .” [Read article here]

This sent shock waves across the GOP base who had come to view Mr. Santorum as a bulwark against their fears that homosexuals are invading their neighborhoods and insisting they watch “Glee.” Gradually, they feel, these insurgents will cause the heterosexual members of their communities to wear brightly colored ascots and eat yogurt.

Heretofore, they had counted Mr. Santorum as one of their own, a man who made sense about the issue, like here:

“If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual [gay] sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything… In every society, the definition of marriage has not ever to my knowledge included homosexuality. That’s not to pick on homosexuality. It’s not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing.”

Now, however, Mr. Santorum appears smitten with Mitt Romney.

The Romney camp was quick to address Santorum’s suggestion that he and Santorum engage in consensual sexual relations.

“Governor Romney wishes to attract gay and lesbian supporters. He believes his various stances in the past comport with this objective. From 1993 to 1999, he supported gay sex, then he was opposed to it in varying amounts and to varying degrees until around 2007 when he was opposed, unless speaking to predominantly gay and lesbian groups in bars he accidentally stumbled into. Now, he tries to avoid the question altogether.

However, to the point, if Mr. Santorum, previously staunchly anti-gay, now believes that championing gay sex will garner him votes, then Governor Romney applauds him. The Governor will gladly meet Mr. Santorum half way. He will be pleased to endorse Mr. Santorum and Newt Gingrich engaging in gay sex. With each other. In that way they can literally do to each other what they have been figuratively doing to each other for many months.”

Calls to the Gingrich camp for comment found no camp.
