Rep. Steve Stockman and Yosemite Sam Stockman - separated at birth

As I stand on this platform, I stand for union – Union suits and Union stations! For the little people. There’s enough fresh air and sunshine in this great country of ours for everybody, and I’ll see to it that you’ll get your share!

Reality Irrelevant. The man poised to replace Louis Gohmert (TX-1) as the most galactically loopy Texas representative, 36th Congressional District Congressloon Steve Stockman, is among the more vocal supporters of virtually unlimited 2nd Amendment rights. During February 2013 he invited the public to a meeting where they would learn of the “Fallacy of Gun-Free School Zones.” Here’s the headline on his invite:

Grab free donuts and coffee before Obama grabs your gun!

Also during February, Stockman issued this cris du coeur:

I whole heartedly (sic) endorse the February 23rd “2-23 Day of Resistance” and urge every gun owner, and everyone concerned about civil rights and peace, to call their member of Congress and urge him or her to oppose all anti-gun legislation.

The right of the people to keep and bear arms in an unalienable civil and human right. An armed populace is the reason the United States are (sic) the world’s oldest and most stable (sic) democracy.

The purpose of the Second Amendment is clear. Every peaceful person should be able to possess arms without restrictions, reporting or permission to serve as (sic) an unorganized civilian military force to resist violence, oppression or invasion.

Nest, reacting to an overwhelming need, he introduced H.R. 577. Among other things, this legislation would provide more 2nd Amendment protection for those unfortunate military veterans “experiencing an extended state of unconsciousness” to receive or transport firearms.

Stockman Overdrive. Protecting the rights of unconscious veterans to receive or transport firearms may appear to some to mark the end of the road in ludicrous 2nd Amendment twaddle. If you believe that, then you do not understand the agile mind of Steve Stockman. Yesterday, he invited “all persecuted gun owners and manufacturers” to relocate in Texas, and not simply Texas, but in the 36th Congressional District, his district.

Come to Texas!!!”, he yells, and adds what historians call “revisionist history”: :

“The state which believes the whole Bill of Rights should be followed, not just the  ‘politically correct’ parts.'”

It may come as a surprise to those of us in even debatable possession of mental faculties and a grade school knowledge of American history that Texas has shown any propensity whatever to “believe the whole Bill of Rights should be followed,” and not merely those rights deemed acceptable or convenient to Texas, nonetheless, here’s Stockman’s April 5 letter:

Congressman Steve Stockman

Congressman
Steve Stockman
Representing the 36th District
April 05, 2013

Stockman to gun makers: Come home to Texas!

Stockman invites all persecuted gun owners and manufacturers to enjoy Texas freedom and prosperity

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Stockman (R-Texas 36) released the following open letter Friday to all gun manufacturers, and owners, persecuted by radical anti-gun legislators in their states:

Attention all persecuted gun owners and unwanted manufacturers,

This is an open letter to invite all to the 36th Congressional District of Texas.

Recent draconian gun legislation passed in Colorado, Connecticut and Maryland has made those states unfriendly
to law abiding gun owners, weapons manufactures, and weapons parts manufactures.  These states have proven
they do not value those who obey the law and pump millions of dollars into local economies.  This is not the
way for government to treat people.

Come to Texas!!!  The state which believes the whole Bill of Rights should be followed, not just the
“politically correct” parts.  Your rights will not be infringed upon here, unlike many current local regimes.

Texas is the number one state in the nation for job growth because we know how to treat job creators.  With
no state income tax, abundant natural resources and ease of access to shipping ports, Texas is the ideal place for relocation.

Magpul, HiViz, Beretta, and Colt, your businesses are welcomed with open arms in the 36th District of Texas.

Warmest wishes,

Steve Stockman
U.S. Representative
36th District of Texas
