A few days ago, the Wily Walrus Rush Limbaugh called out President Obama for including children in the audience and onstage during his discussion of the gun safety and regulation recommendations offered by Vice President Biden. Here’s his offensive-even-for-him performance which begins at 0:26 on the clip

So, for starters, many other Presidents have included children in their announcements of new policy directions when those policies would apply directly to their needs and interests. Completely appropriate.

Here’s one of those Presidents:

President Bush II with kids - urging reauth of NCLB

Petrified human shields hope to survive President Bush

Secondly and finally, I don’t know about you, but I’ve been unable to shake off the image of Limbaugh’s blubbering act. It’s beyond the pale. Imagine, he jests, children pleading “I don’t want to die.” Kids these days, no guts. The man has not a microgram of human empathy. And he’s no piker, he’s a GOP puppet master, representing the darkest recesses of the party, the epitome of what we’d get if they ever manage – by hook or by crook – to control Congress and the Presidency.
