Word Cloud Of The First 7 Hours Of Rand Paul’s Filibuster – Guess The Top Two Words He Used
Ironically enough, given John McCain’s critique quoted below, the two words Senator Paul used during the first seven hours of his thirteen hour filibuster were:
- think
- people
Yes, think people. His own thought process, though, was grist for McCain’s always ready mill. Clearly, the often annoying and irrepressible McCain thought Paul’s filibuster was fail-ibuster.
“If Senator Paul wants to be taken seriously, he needs to do more than pull political stunts to fire up
impressionable libertarian kids in their college dorms.
He needs to know what he’s talking about.”
Senator McCain on Rand Paul’s filibuster of March 6, 2013
Without further comment on Paul’s content, below is my word cloud for the first seven hours of his 13 hour filibuster. It’s based upon Senator Paul’s official website’s “unofficial transcript,” presently available through hour seven. To set this up I
-
removed statements of other Senators (eg., Ted Cruz, Saxby Chambliss, Ron Wyden), and from the residing President of the Senate;
-
removed the word “president” when it referred to the President of the Senate only;
-
combined the words “United” and “States” wherever they occurred together, otherwise the clod would have one word count for United and another for States.
I’ll add to this as Senator Paul’s office releases transcripts for hours eight through thirteen .
