The Latest GOP Supercommittee Proposal In A Pie Chart — Congressional Math Classes Needed.
Tonight, The Hill reports that the new GOP deficit reduction plan presented to the Democratic Supercommittee members is as popular as a hippie at a square dance, or less. To say that Democrats were aghast is an understatement – the GOP offered only $3 Billion in revenue raising measures vs. $640 Billion in spending cuts. Congressman James Clyburn told The Hill,
“Do we look stupid? I mean, I don’t know, maybe we do. I certainly am not stupid.” . . . Clyburn said the 200:1 ratio of spending cuts to tax revenue “would be far apart” from what’s needed for a deal.

On their behalf, the Repubs countered that they actually were proposing $229 Billion in revenue raisers. There seems to be a failure of math here.
