Scandal At The Library Of Congress 2012 National Book Festival: Books They Would Not Allow You To See!
Reporting from the 2012 National Book Festival in Washington D.C. . . See the political books that nobody wants you to read, especially the literary gatekeeper, the Library of Congress!!!
Congress has an approval rating in the low teens, but there is one thing the Legislative Branch can be applauded for: The National Book Festival, held in Washington, D.C. on the National Mall. The annual two day event, ending today, brings together book addicts and their dealers, aka “authors,” “poets,” and “illustrators.”
Note that the festival is decidedly short of politics authors, decidedly short as in none. For the Library, controversy is verboten, so politics is on the outs. To me, this is a major omission; Americans are a ravenous consumer of politics.
I think the Library’s omission is a big mistake, so I’ll try and fill in the gap. Below is a slideshow of books they can – and should – consider for the next National Book Festival. They’ll have to wait a bit since these books have yet to be written. Nonetheless, the wait won’t be a long one: the hapless GOP 2012 presidential nomination contenders – Gingrich, Bachmann, Huntsman, Rick Perry, and Herman Cain – have already promised books or are sure bets to do so. Also, don’t forget Mitt Romney, and some others from a certain former administration!
