My 50 Dollar Photo With Newt Gingrich
Newt Gingrich is out of the running for a primary plurality large enough to challenge Mitt Romney or Rick Santorum. He’s also running out of money, and Sheldon Adelson can’t help him this time since PAC’s are not permitted to provide funds for campaign staff, etc. But our Gingo has an eye for the main chance unlike any living American, so, unsurprisingly, he’s staying in the race, hoping to make a mess of the GOP convention this July.
Now, though, Mr. Gingrich can concentrate on what is really important to him after you peel away the many layers of policy and presidential mendacity: His book sales, and Callista’s. His souvenirs, his time, his magnificent presence. Indeed, he’s now charging $50 for to take a photo with him, something heretofore that – surprisingly – was free.
His campaign spokesman, R.C. Hammond, implied that this was a way for his supporters to show their staunch support of their candidate. He spun the tale further this way:
” [Hammond] said some campaigns ‘make you travel all the way to Wall Street to pay $2,500 for a photo.’ And already, the more grass-roots appeal is paying off.
‘Every dollar and every supporter count and our campaign is propelled forward one small donor at a time,’ he said.”
Obviously, Gingo’s got some campaign bills that he’s apparently at least considering raising funds to pay. Well, as you can see, I plunked down my 50 bucks; it’s a nice pic, doncha think? I love the background.
What next, a Callista Playboy centerfold? Hmmmmm.
