FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. September 11, 2012, 9:42 pm (ESDT). TWSA! Military Affairs Correspondent reporting from Romney/Ryan Campaign Forward HQ.

Over the past two days, Public Policy Polling released new polls about the presidential race in Ohio and North Carolina, maintaining that President Obama leads by five in Ohio, and that North Carolina remains a tossup. Interestingly, hidden in the open within these two polls is an interesting question:

“Who do you think deserves more credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden: Barack Obama or Mitt Romney?”

Here’s the overall results for that question:

Barack Obama……….. 63%
Mitt Romney……………. 6%
Not sure ………………… 31%

The Romney campaign responded quickly, asserting that they were pleased that Governor Romney’s role in the daring raid that took the al Queda leader’s life in May 2011. Romney spokesperson Joanie Roark read this prepared statement to reporters:

“We in the Romney campaign are pleased that Governor Romney may now openly discuss his leadership role in the bin Laden raid. Prior to the Public Policy Polling report issued in the past two days we were unable to do so in light of Governor Romney’s May 2011 promise to President Obama’s request to not reveal his participation.

In addition, the Governor has an innate reluctance to take credit for his accomplishments. For example, the Governor takes no credit whatever for what liberals call “Romneycare,” or for his role at Bain Capital. In fact, Governor Romney will soon release a full statement that indicates he was neither the governor of Massachusetts nor was he with Bain Capital in anything but a janitorial role.

However, now that his role in the bin Laden raid has been leaked by Public Policy Polling, he believes that it is approproate to reveal that he conceived, organized, financed, and planned the Navy Seal operation that resulted in Osama bin Laden’s death.

We will have more to say about this in the near future, but for now, we release the photograph below. The picture, from which Governor Romney’s image had heretofore been deleted, shows the Governor at the very moment when the mission seemed to be in peril. Governor Romney can be seen successfully calming the panicky group.

The Governor asks that voters not ascribe more than the complete responsibility for this success than he has earned.”

Governor Romney calms the other participants at a crucial point
in the May 2011 raid that resulted in Osama bin Laden’s death.
